Runners help Bacup toddler
4:45pm Friday 6th September 2013 in News
A TEAM of 20 people are donning 1980s style fancy dress and running the Salford 5k challenge on Sunday to raise funds in aid of a Bacup toddler recently diagnosed with leukaemia.
The team is mainly made up of staff at Blossoms Private Day Nursery where two-and-a-half-year-old Anna Brooks attended until falling ill, and family and friends of the youngster.
The team has raised £3,046 for childhood cancer charity CLIC through a family fun day held at the nursery on Sunday and their donation web page.
Rachel Elven, one of the Team Anna runners, said: “We will be pretty hard to miss. We’ll be dressed up in an array of brightly coloured tutus and legwarmers. There’s going to be a definite nod to the decade taste forgot, the 1980s.
“The group are of mixed running experience, some of us have never run before and others have half marathons.”
