Pendle MP welcomes bus child discount extension
2:58pm Wednesday 4th September 2013 in News
PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has welcomed Transdev’s decision to extend child discounts on buses to anyone under the age of 19.
The new scheme, called UGO, comes as thousands of Pendle students return to schools and colleges this week.
Under-19s can now ask for a UGO ticket and receive reduced price travel of up to 50 per cent of full adult fares.
Mr Stephenson said: “Whether for work, education, training, work experience or just recreation, this will make our young people’s lives easier. Under 19-year-olds, especially now schools have started back up, are among our most regular bus users.
“Providing them with affordable transport is crucial and is sure to make continuing in education a more viable option”.
