Musician to set up veterans' choir in Rossendale
12:38pm Wednesday 4th September 2013 in News
A FORMER military musician is hoping to set up a veterans’ choir with a Rossendale-based charity.
Singing teacher Peter Webster has approached Veterans In Communities (VIC) with a view to sharing the benefits he enjoys from music with others.
Mr Webster, 43, who played French horn in the Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars has struggled with mental health issues since leaving the army in 1997.
He said: “When I listen to music or I sing with a choir, it is like I am in a world of my own. It is a peaceful place and all of my troubles go away.
“Music is a good way to meet new people and a great way to get the veterans, families and their children all involved in a joint activity.
“I would love to be able to get this activity off the ground and would love members and their families help.”
