STAFF and residents at Favordale care home in Colne will hold a dementia awareness day on Friday to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
There will be an aftenoon of games, origami, and musical and arts activities at the Byron Road home, as well as a raffle and treasure hunt with riddles.
Organiser Siobhan Whiteside said: “We will be giving members of staff allocated ailments such as the inability to talk so they can see from the residents perspective how it feels unable to communicate fully on a day to day basis.
“And we’ll also have a coffee and cake sale where there will be a small charge to purchase – the residents themselves will be making and decorating the cakes in the morning.
“As we are holding the event in conjunction with dementia awareness week, half of the proceeds will be going to the Alzheimer’s Society and the other half to Favordale’s amenity funds so we can continue to organise and hold events and trips for our residents.”
