Police praised for drug finds

A COUNTY councillor has praised policing in the Valley after a number of recent drug finds.

Chairman of Rossendale Community Safety Partnership, Peter Steen, also welcomed the decision to fund four extra PCSOs in Rossendale. Coun Steen said he was particularly concerned about the discovery of a £500,000 cannabis factory, in Height Barn Lane, Bacup, on February 15.

The Whitworth councillor said: “This amount of drugs is not a local pocket-money scheme. It must be backed by organised crime, and the money made would be used to finance further criminal activity, and we do not need this type of activity in the Valley.”
