Rawtenstall cupcake business up for sale as owner moves

A POPULAR Rawtenstall cupcake shop could close as its owner is leaving the Valley.

Melinda Foster, who runs Fantasy Cupcakes from A Right Royal Tea Party, a cafe in Ormerod Street, has put the business up for sale as she is moving to south Devon with her family.

Last year, Love Baking magazine called it one of the six best cupcakeries in Britain. Melinda said: “I feel that A Right Royal Tea Party and Fantasy Cupcakes would suit someone with a passion for baking and vintage style. The premises benefits from a town centre location, but with low rent and rates.

“I would also like to thank all the customers who have supported me in the five years I have been running the business in Rossendale.”

I've been in this place and it is a great little shop - in fact, it's my wife's dream business because she loves baking, she is creative, loves the vintage look and style and has a couple of ideas in order to attempt to expand the business.

Unfortunately for me, with having a couple of years remaining on the mortgage and two kids in nursery, it is just the wrong time to take a gamble on a business away from our current secure income.

If this was 2 years down the line, it would be a gamble we'd take in order to let my wife have a crack at business.
