'Brierfield man sent girl, 10, to collect drugs'

A 34-YEAR-OLD man said to have sent his 10-year-old daughter out begging and to collect Class A drugs for him from dealers, appeared before Burnley magistrates.

The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, from Brierfield, faces an allegation of child neglect and three charges of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. He did not indicate pleas.

The Bench decided the case should be heard at the crown court and the defendant was bailed until June 17.

He must live at his home address, not contact or attempt to contact his daughter and is not allowed any unsupervised contact with children under 16 in a public place.
