Outdoor table tennis in Padiham

AN OUTDOOR table tennis table has been set up at Padiham Leisure Centre.

The table was bought for community use, using funds from Padiham Town Council and the Stocks Massey Fund, and is free to use with bats and balls available for loan from reception.

The table has been designed to withstand the effects of the weather, with a solid net across the centre and rounded edges for safety.

Coun John Harbour, Burnley Council’s executive member for leisure and culture, said: “We’ve seen an increased interest in table tennis and leisure staff and the town council got together to install this outdoor table. The fact it’s outdoor makes it unusual and a lot of fun to play on.

“I’m sure it will be well used and I hope people will come along and try their hand at table tennis.”

The table is the latest addition to the community area around the leisure centre and adds to nearby Greenway and children’s play.

A nice idea, but unless it's locked away at night the local idiots will see it as a challenge for their vandalism.
