Fire alarm at Nelson shopping centre

FIRE crews were called to Pendle Rise Shopping Centre, Nelson, following reports that an immersion heater had steam coming from it.

Firefighters attended at around 6.30pm on Saturday after a security guard thought there may have been a blaze outside one of the shopping units.

Watch manager Neil Hardiman said: “The fire alarm had gone off, but fortunately the shopping centre had closed for the evening so we did not have to evacuate anybody.”
