A Stubbins couple has celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Kenneth and Muriel Anderson, of Chatterton Road, met at a church hall dance in Knott End, near Fleetwood. They married at St Paul’s Church, Bridge Street, Ramsbottom, in 1953.

They have a daughter, Kaye, and three grandsons, Scott, Adam and Gary, who were among 30 family and friends celebrating the 60-year landmark yesterday.

Kenneth, 83, worked for Ashworth’s Slippers, Bury as a manager for many years, and later as a book keeper at John Greenwood abattoir, Holcombe Brook.

Muriel’s parents used to run Carr Bank Farm, Ramsbottom. The 82-year-old was a winder at Porritts, Stubbins.
