A THIEF went out stealing as his benefits had been suspended and he wanted to buy a Christmas present for his son, a court heard.
Gary Bradley, 49, sold his haul of £59.98 aftershave to raise cash for the gift. Bradley, who is on methadone, was said, by his solicitor, to be “not a well man”, and was on medication and waiting for a liver transplant.
Bradley, of Lower Tentre, Burnley, admitted theft from Boots, last December 21, at the town's magistrates court.
He was given a 12- month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay £59.98 compensation, a £15 victim surcharge, and £35 costs.
