A CHAMPIONSHIP-winning cheerleading squad from Rawtenstall is looking to raise more than £3,000 to help them defend their title for the 16th year running.

Alder Grange Cats have won the UKCA (UK Cheerleading Association) National Schools Championship competition for the last 15 years, under the guidance of trainer Fayhe-Louise Mitchell and Alder Grange coach Lisa Archer.

Now the squad need Fayhe’s help to make them victorious for the 16th year in a row, and are looking to raise the money to cover the costs of her fees, as well as competition entry fees, transport and uniforms.

Lisa Archer said: “Like any sport, competing on a national stage is quite expensive and we have to raise quite a large amount before the competition starts in June. We have only just started this year’s fundraising, and so far we’ve hosted a fancy dress day and are hoping to bag pack in Asda.

“We really want to retain our title, after all we’ve kept it for 15 years, so if anyone would like to contribute they can contact me on larcher@aldergrange.com”
