MAJOR plans to reshape part of the Weavers Triangle complex in Burnley have been given the go-ahead.

Under the Barnfield and borough council scheme, Sandygate Mill and Slater’s Terrace will be converted into commercial offices.

Architects Campbell Drive have also drawn up proposals to transform the old weaving shed into a car park and retain two walls of the former Waterloo Hotel, which will be also marketed for business use.

Project director Gareth Smith said approval meant the redevelopment plans could take another step forward.

He said: “We are committed to the ongoing regeneration of Burnley and the approval of this phase of development means we can continue with the redevelopment of Weavers Triangle and help revitalise this part of town.”

The initiative has been aided by financial support from the Regional Growth Fund and will tie in with the rebirth of Victoria Mill as a university technical college.
