Cannabis factory uncovered in Bacup
2:14pm Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News
A CANNABIS factory totalling 40 plants has been uncovered after a police raid in Bacup.
Drugs with a street value of £16,000 were found in an attic by officers who swooped on a home in Todmorden Road.
A 68-year-old man has been charged with possession of cannabis, producing cannabis and abstracting electricity.
Community beat manager for Bacup PC Pete Law said: “It was a fairly large set up - the plants would have a potential street value of up to £16,000.
“We know the misery drugs can bring to a community and we are determined to do everything we can to remove them.
“We rely on the public’s continued support and I urge anyone with information or concerns to contact us.”
The raid on 30 January is the third significant drug farm find in the Valley in as many months.
In November, a £160,000 cannabis factory was found in Oakenshaw Avenue in Whitworth, while almost £30,000 of cannabis, cocaine and benzocaine was discovered at a house in Moorgate, off Tong Lane in Bacup in December.
