All-star line-up for launch of Burnley Jane Tomlinson run
10:57am Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News
Jane Tomlinson
AN all-star launch for the Pennine Lancashire 10k Run should send interest among runners into the stratosphere, organisers hope.
Burnley-born Emmerdale actor Nicola Wheeler and Clarets Marvin Bartley and Charlie Holt were on hand for the return of the Jane Tomlinson inspired race, which last took place in Blackburn three years ago.
Mayor of Burnley, Coun Charlie Bullas, and Pendleside Hospice supporters also lent a helping hand as the starting gun was fired for people to enlist.
Athletes of all abilities will have a picturesque course to tackle, starting at Burnley Mechanics and taking in Thompson Park and Towneley Park before heading back to the Manchester Road venue.
The race, on Sunday, June 2, is one of a series around the UK which is staged in memory of Jane Tomlinson, who died in 2007 after a seven-year fight against breast cancer.
Runners can choose to support their own cause, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal or race for one of the event’s partners, including Pendleside, MacMillan Cancer Support, Derian House, Sue Ryder and Yorkshire Cancer Research. Entry forms are available online at www.runforall.com
