Share your treasures when the Antiques Roadshow visits Burnley

FAMILY heirlooms are set to be dusted down and put up for expert perusal when The Antiques Roadshow comes to Burnley later this year.

The BBC’s long-running antiques valuation show will be shot at Towneley Hall on Thursday, June 27.

It will be the first time in its history the Antiques Roadshow has come to Burnley when the BBC bring their outside broadcast unit to film at Towneley.

The decision to film in Burnley’s iconic park has been welcomed.

Mick Cartledge, director of community services at the council, said: “We’re thrilled that the BBC have chosen to film Antiques Roadshow at Towneley Hall this summer.

“As well as providing people in Burnley and the surrounding areas with the opportunity to get involved in this well-known and loved show, it gives us the opportunity to show off Towneley Hall and its Green Flag park.

“We hope that visitors come from across the county and beyond to share their treasures, we are sure it will be a great day for everyone involved.”

Nelson-born Eric Knowles has strong links with Towneley Hall and has appeared on the show for many years as a ceramics expert.

It is not yet known whether he will be appearing on the Burnley programme.

A BBC spokesman, said: “Please be prepared to wait, bring an umbrella and comfortable shoes and plan in advance if you want to bring a large item of furniture with you for valuation. The doors will be open from 9.30am to 4.30pm and as long as you are in the queue by 4.30pm you will see an expert.”

Anyone with large pieces of furniture or other big items can send details and photographs to the Antiques Roadshow and transportation may be arranged.
