£75 fines in Rossendale dog fouling crackdown

ROSSENDALE Council has launched a new crackdown on dog fouling.

Owners who don’t clear up after their pets will be issued with an on-the-spot £75 fine, after officers noticed a spike in complaints during the winter months.

There will also be increased enforcement patrols in the Valley.

Council leader, Coun Alyson Barnes, said: “Dog fouling complaints are regularly at the top of the list of concerns of residents that I speak to, so by working together to identify people, places and times that the offences are occurring, we can target problem areas more effectively.

“The message is clear – we are looking out for the health of the public by catching, and fining, those that don’t clean up after their dogs.”

A council spokesman said: “The extra dog fouling patrols will be in targeted areas, and we are asking that members of the public contact us if there is a problem with dog fouling where they live.”

Rossendale council are a joke !!! we have been complaining about "dogger" near st saviours school for several years the area around the school is a total dog toilet ........ i rang up last year and the council told me to get some evidence !!!!! surely if they sent someone out they would know dogger wnen they see dogger !!!!

Why can't they wear some kind of nappy when they take their pooh poppers for a walk in public places..? Put a stop to weakies walking round with dangerous dogs if they had to change its nappy everytime it pops one out.ha ha

all dog owners should pick up after their dogs as they would be the first to complain if their child got a serious eye problem through touching poo and rubbing their eyes , the bottom of burnley road bacup is a major hotspot for mounds of dog poop so is the back of st james st at the back of the market , also union st. you want a dog act responsible and clean up its disgusting to just leave it for folk to tread in especially children . come on rossendale, council folk are here telling you where to go looking do something patrol the area or set up cameras or security lights which come on when movement is sensed and records all actions,prosecuting would be much easier then .
