A MOTHER, son, and another motorist have been taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital after a two car crash on the M65.

The incident happened at around noon today (Wednesday) near to junction 14 at Colne, travelling eastbound.

A Citroen C3 and a Citroen Picasso were involved in a rear-end shunt which left all three casualties requiring hospital treatment.

The female driver of the Citroen C3, from Accrington, was put into a spinal board as a precaution after complaining of back pain.

Lane one of two was blocked while police and ambulance attended the scene and recovered the vehicles.

The incident caused long tailbacks of traffic towards Colne.
