A FAMILY in Ramsbottom is still facing heartache over the disappearance of a a grandmother – 12 months on from when she vanished on a holiday island.

Margaret Holt, then aged 65, went missing will on a hiking holiday in Lanzarote on December 23 last year.

And her son Ben Riley and his wife Clare, of Simms Close, have been left in limbo as there have been no sightings of her ever since.

Ben and his family have led search missions in the resort of Costa Teguise and produced missing person posters in Spanish.

Mrs Holt, a retired IT worker living in the Wirral, left her hotel wearing sandals and a drawstring bag and disappeared. She was spotted later that day in Orzola, to the north of Lanzarote, but that was the last positive sighting of her.

And in November the Rileys welcomed the arrival of her new granddaughter Aoife, which they knew would have made her ‘so proud’.

Family and friends, over the festive season, have left messages of consolation on a Facebook website dedicated to the hunt for Mrs Holt, who was said to have been very fit and active for her age.
