Yes yet another racist assault, my son was also attacked by 5 **** teens last week in accrington, he managed to deal with the main one who was causing the trouble but his mates were having none of it and give him a good kicking and two black eyes, cowardly scum the lot of em.

Nowhere in the article is there any indication as to the race of the alleged victims. Nor is there any indication this was an incident motivated by racial hatred. You seem to have insider information on this case. Either that or you're just speculating. If you do have any information which might lead to the apprehension of the alleged perpetrators, then you should bring this to the attention of Pennine CID.

Actually, my above comment is slightly unfair: the BNP have been given a bloody nose by the electorate and are now nothing but a laughing stock. The EDL were never anything other than a laughing stock.

Although the report isn't specific I will lay a weeks wages the two lone men attacked are white and the gangs that attacked them are Muslim. Time the police were more specific as these cases seem to be happening a lot especially in Brierfield and Nelson.

The EDL are indeed a laughing stock but the BNP are on their way back. Sooner BNP have reps on the local council again the better. Of course not all Muslims are bad however their is a rump of young Muslim males who are running the streets of East Lancashire.

Why are you identifying the alleged offenders by their religion? The demographic makeup of the area is such that you're more than likely correct in your assertion that anybody who identifies as Asian in East Lancs is a Muslim. However, anybody who commits acts of mindless thuggery and violence, and otherwise finds themselves on the wrong side of the law, is likely to possess at best nominal ties to their religion. Earlier this year, it lost its sole representative in Burnley, previously its stronghold. Nobody, certainly not I, is denying that there are issues in this country - and in this county - with regards to conservatism within the Asian community. However, only an idiot would suggest the answer lies with organisations such as the BNP. The BNP don't offer any viable solutions. They merely name-call, stigmatise and alienate. Thankfully, though, the electorate is wising to divisive peddlers of hate such as Nick Griffin.

The biggest problem in my opinion is the lack of police action surrounding these kind of attacks. Following recent events involving a similar incident with my eldest son (who is recovering fine) I cannot believe the way the police have been so ineffective and I strongly feel that the fear of high numbers of statistical evidence of Asian on white attacks terrifies the authorities because they would have to do something and it would be ammunition for the right wing.

All it has done it make SOME Asian youths believe they are untouchable and that is the biggest crime of all!

I see Nelson has been twinned with the west bank. Would that be the Jewish quarter as well??? If so I look forward to Nelson celebrating a nice Jewish festival as I like Bagels and the likes. If I should simply talk about the contents of the article, and not digress by mentioning the BNP, then you should heed your own advice by not prattling on about the (fabricated?) attack on your friend and concentrate on the facts we have before us. Unless you have insider information on this incident, then you're merely speculating as to the identity of the alleged victims. Oh, and if this attack on your mate does have a grain of truth to it, then perhaps your mate might not have been as innocent and angelic as you portray. What I did see however where numerous examples of attacks similar to what has been reported and has been commented by yourself.

Lancashire police are appealing after a teenage boy was the victim of a homophobic assault in the town of Nelson earlier this month (feb) which left him with a broken jaw.

At around 9:30pm on Saturday the 11th February 2012, the 16-year-old boy was walking through Nelson town centre along Netherfield Road with his sister when three men shouted homophobic abuse at him.

An argument then broke out between the group before the three men began assaulting the teenager, punching and kicking him in the face.

The offenders were disturbed when a man who was passing intervened. They fled the scene.

The victim was left needing surgery for a broken jaw and police are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

Detective Constable Julie Leigh, investigating, said: “This was a vicious and nasty assault and I am very keen to trace the people responsible.

“In particular, I would like to speak to the man who intervened and was able to stop the assault and would urge him, if he sees or hears this appeal to contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone else that may have been in the area at the time who may have witnessed anything or to anyone that recognises the descriptions of the offenders to contact us.”

The three men are described as Asian, between 16 and 19 years of age. One of them in particular was described as being of medium build, around five feet eight and five feet ten inches tall and clean shaven with short, dark cropped, hair. He was wearing dark clothing.

The massive problem we have in this country, and especially this area, is that "multiculturalism" - whatever that actually means - clearly isn't working at all. If you think it is then you either have no actual experience of real life round here, or you are a liar.

Who is the voice for our disaffected working class therefore, especially it's youth? They haven't created this problem - they never asked for it - but they are the one's having to deal with it. The problem was created by previous politicians, who supposedly knew best but obviously didn't, and now the main political parties don't want to even admit there is a problem, so the problem gets worse and worse.

Rememnber what John Simm's the actor said in 2010 the NELSON-born actor told of his 'shock' at the racism in his home town — and community leaders admitted the problem needs to be tackled.

The star of Life On Mars, who spent his first 16 years in Nelson from 1970 to 1986, said he had difficulty dealing with local attitudes.

He said: “You do come across casual racism up there and I can’t really deal with it, whether it’s someone in the family or friends of the family.

Also back then Coun Mohammed Iqbal, leader of the Labour group in Pendle, even said that he felt there wasn't much that could be done, although others believed great strides had been made in recent years casual racism was something that people in the town had to live with.

He said: “I grew up in Nelson and came across casual racism but you just take it on the chin. “It is something that has always gone on. It hasn’t changed in recent years.“I don’t think it has anything to do with split communities or large Asian communities.

"It is just how humans are and how we want to stereotype people. It happens on both sides.

“It is something that people will have to live with. There isn’t much that can be done to tackle it."

When you have got your councillors saying nothing can be done and nonsense like "this is how humans are" then you have got real problems on your hands. Your need community leaders with backbone and a committment to flush these criminals out of their own communities then they present honest valued committment to British law that cannot be questioned.

The massive problem we have in this country, and especially this area, is that "multiculturalism" - whatever that actually means - clearly isn't working at all. If you think it is then you either have no actual experience of real life round here, or you are a liar.

Who is the voice for our disaffected working class therefore, especially it's youth? They haven't created this problem - they never asked for it - but they are the one's having to deal with it. On a footnote, I've walked through many an "Asian area" after a night out in search of a late-night curry - Whalley Range/Bastwell, Blackburn; Wilmslow Rd Manchester; Glodwick, Oldham. Funny how I've never been singled out for attack by a bating mob of feral Asians. Take a Palestinian teenager for instance, who's father, mother, and tiny brothers and sisters had all been killed by banned Incentary devices used by the Israeli military, and the world did nothing about it whatsoever, even backing the agressors. Put him in a room with the Israeli prime minister who claims this lad's loved ones had to die for some perceived "defence" - then I'm fairly sure no brew would help matters.

Then take all the greed and corruption the world over in all it's many forms - both overt such as dictators but also subtle such as paid trips for MPs - with all the power which has to be contantly weilded to keep it in place, then it's just not possible to simply "give peace a chance" and end division like John Lennon says.

There is an answer though. We need to face the prejudices head on, find out if there is truth in them, and if there is, do something about it. It's the only way.

ofcourse the police know what is going on, also what about the camera's on Manchester road, the police do nothing for fear of causing unrest in a predominent Asian town, put a picture up of the people who did this and not one Asian would name them they look after and protect their own, 3 Asian lads have attacked many times in Nelson over last few months and nothing, I am not racist i would expect better from the police if they were white British gang, I live in Nelson and many of the Asian community are really nice people but they certainly wouldnt throw one of their own to the wolves, and no the leaders dont have the power over the young like they used to have

However, I'm not a simplistic idiot who believes every such attack on a white person is a racist attack. Likewise, not every attack on an Asian person is automatically a racist attack if it is perpetrated by somebody who is white. Is that too complex a notion for you to grasp?
On a footnote, I've walked through many an "Asian area" after a night out in search of a late-night curry - Whalley Range/Bastwell, Blackburn; Wilmslow Rd Manchester; Glodwick, Oldham. Funny how I've never been singled out for attack by a bating mob of feral Asians. Conversely, I'd feel much safer walking through the aforementioned areas than I would some of the predominantly white hellholes such as Higher Croft and Shadsworth.

Well the only real problems i had in Nelson was from the white neighbours one example roberslumdwellor whom walks around with his big dog with no lead. Goes in and out of old ladies houses peeps through his windows and rings the police on anything and everything. Killed his neighbours cat cos it peed in his yard at the front of his house terroized the young girl whom owned it.
