THE FRONTMAN of a band has taken a break from touring with rock legends to appear on ITV dating show Take Me Out.

Micky Satiar, 31, from Rawtenstall, will be gracing TV screens on Saturday as he attempts to win a date on the show hosted by comedian Paddy McGuinness.

The dating programme sets out to find a guy for the 30 girls on the panel.

The ladies can switch off their light if the man does not appeal to them until eventually just one is left and the pair are sent off to the Isle of Fernandos for a romantic rendezvous.

The former All Saints RC School student is the lead singer for hard rock band Dear Superstar, who have supported giants Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, Metallica, Kiss, Aerosmith, Papa Roach, Bullet For My Valentine and Puddle of Mudd.

Micky, who has played at Download and Sonisphere festivals with his band, said that a TV dating show wasn’t something he had previously considered.

“When I was asked to be on the show, I knew it would put me up for a lot of criticism and controversy. But I figured it would be fun whatever the outcome and several million viewers getting a taste of some British rock 'n' roll can’t be a bad thing," he said.

Micky, who also runs IT firm Titan Network Services in Manchester, said that he was pleased to have come away with a date as he feared his appearance would put the girls off.

He said: “I was worried that I might have a ‘black out’ as I’m a bit alternative looking. I like wearing skinny jeans and I’m not exactly an oil painting.

“I was pleased when I still had about 10 lights left on at the end. Most of the lights actually went out when I talked about my music career which surprised me as I thought they would have been more likely to when it showed my IT firm.

“I had a great time on the show, I think I might shock people with my killer question. The date and the girl was lovely, but I don’t think she liked the rock 'n' roll lifestyle.”

Dear Superstar have just finished a UK headline tour and release a new single Change Yesterday on December 3. Take Me Out airs on Saturday at 6.30pm on ITV1.
