A MAN from Brierfield has been ordered to pay £185 for allowing his dog to foul in the street.

Keiran Furlong, 36, of Bird Street, failed to appear before Reedley magistrates last month but the case was proved in his absence and he was found guilty.

On April 2, a dog warden witnessed Mr Furlong’s dog foul on Sefton Street in Brierfield.

She approached him and offered him a bag to pick up his pet’s waste. He did, but was later taken to court for other dog-related offences.

In court, the magistrate found him guilty of the dog fouling incident and fined him £100, and ordered him to pay £70 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Coun John David, who represents clean streets in Pendle, said: “This man was particularly abusive towards our warden when she approached him, and would not give his full details.

“But she found out who he was and started legal proceedings.

“He clearly has no regard for other dog walkers in the area, and no inkling of the responsibility that goes with owning a dog.”
