Share your best riverside spot in Burnley and Pendle

NATURE lovers in Burnley and Pendle are being urged to promote their favourite riverside spots by environmental campaigners.

Hidden away idylls along the Calder, Ribble and Hodder rivers are wanted by officials from the Ribble Rivers Trust for a new initiative.

Trust leaders want to compile an online map of the River Ribble’s catchment area, including all its tributaries, featuring people’s ideal retreats.

Jack Spees, trust director, said: “We want to raise people’s awareness of the complexity of the Ribble catchment and how each river system impacts on one another, but also how much benefit it brings to people.

“We hope to do this by encouraging people to share with us what they love about their local river.”

The trust is involved in a host of conservation projects including installing fish passes along the Rivers Calder and Brun.
