Rawtenstall market trader doubles his range of apples

Peter Camm has doubled his selection of apples Peter Camm has doubled his selection of apples

Greengrocer Peter Camm has made his market stall in Rawtenstall even more ap-peeling.

He has doubled the number of apple varieties he sells from around 30 last October to a tasty 75 this year.

And business is ripe with customers despite the tough growing conditions this year.

Peter, 41, has managed his fruit and veg business for 11 years and uses Brogdale Farm, home to the National Fruit Collection in Kent, to source his stock.

Peter, who runs his stall with wife Diane, 48, said: “The best thing about the apples is that they come directly from the farm. Most wholesalers keep them in storage for a couple of months."
