A WOMAN motorist was pinned down in her car and robbed while she was parked near to a T-junction.
Police have described the incident in Hurstwood Lane, near Salterford Lane, Worsthorne, as being ‘very serious’.
Officers said that two men opened the door of her black Vauxhall Astra and pinned her down.
They tore off her engagement ring her finger, before stealing cash and her mobile phone around 6pm on Saturday.
Police are appealing to the public for information in relation to the incident.
Detective Sergeant Nicola Bithell, of Burnley CID, warned motorists to be on their guard and to keep their doors locked while travelling.
She said: “If anybody saw this incident happening or saw someone fitting the offenders’ descriptions loitering in the area we would like to hear from them.
“This is not a crime that is common and so it is being treated very seriously.”
One of the men is described as being white, 5ft 7ins, skinny with short mousey brown hair and a crooked nose. He was said to be wearing a light coloured tracksuit top.
The second man was described as being Asian or of mixed race, with dark hair and wearing dark-coloured clothes.
Both men are believed to be aged between 18 and 20.
Police have appealed for a man to come forward who offered to guide the woman to the motorway from a nearby petrol station.
The attack happened as the woman, from Bolton, was returning home from work.
Anyone with information should contact Burnley CID on 01282 425001 or to ring Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555 111.

None whatsoever. If increased sentences led to lower incidences of crime, why, when sentences in Britain are higher than ever before and prisons are fuller than at any time in our history, does crime go on actually rising? Factually proven that is.
cowards.i hope the next victim runs them over.
this country needs to get a grip on its sentencing, there is no deterent for these scumbags anymore they just laugh at the law.
