A WOMAN who moved to Los Angeles is set to take on the New York marathon in aid of a charity.
Sarah Law, 41, who lived on Buttermere Road near Worsthorne, Burnley is undertaking the feat in memory of her husband Stephen’s grandfather, Frank Chester who passed away at Pendleside hospice around 15 years ago.
The couple left Burnley in 2003 to move to France with Stephen’s work at Aircelle, following which they moved to America in 2012.
Sarah, who has previously run the LA marathon, signed up for the New York Marathon place lottery with her husband on a spur of the moment decision.
She said: “I am not a natural runner; however, we run to keep fit.
“I’ve been in training running five or six times a week.
"The training is tough during summer but hopefully I’ll be ready.
"The most challenge aspect of the race will be the distance, but I am not built to run and 26.2 miles is a long way."
