From Benidorm to a Burnley bar for Hannah

AN ACTRESS who is appearing in two Bafta-nominated TV shows is still pulling pints at a Burnley club.

Hannah Hobley has featured in both period drama Cranford and ITV comedy Benidorm but she still earns extra cash serving behind the bar in Kokos.

The 19-year-old, who landed the role as single mum Chantelle Garvey alongside Johnny Vegas in the comedy two years ago, said she loves being a barmaid and has no intention of quitting her job.

The former John Fisher and Thomas More RC High School pupil happily chats to punters who are unaware that she is a star of the screen on the bar.

Hannah, who also sings soprano, said: "I'm glad really. I'd like to think I'm completely different to Chantelle.

"I love working here. The people are great and it's a good place to work.

"I am one of those people who likes to keep busy and when I have a break from acting this is my job.

"And it does keeps the money coming in."

In 2006 Hannah landed the role of Chantelle before flying out to Benidorm to film the first series aged 17.

After appearing in Benidorm, which has been nominated for a Bafta in the best sitcom category, Hannah got a part in Cranford, which stars Oscar winner Dame Judi Dench.

Hannah, who was born in Burnley and lives in Colne, played Miss Pole's maid Bertha in the BBC show, which has been nominated for three Baftas including best actress for Judi Dench and best programme.

Hannah, who got into acting as a hobby at the age of seven after becoming involved in theatre, doesn't hold out much hope of receiving an invite to the awards tomorrow night.

She said: "At £500 a ticket, I don't think I'll be going."
