Man knocked unconscious in Burnley attack

A 48-YEAR-old man was found unconscious with head injuries in Burnley this morning.

Police believe the man who had been found in the car park outside the Keirby Hotel, Keirby Walk, around 1am on Christmas Eve had been assaulted.

The ambulance service contacted police when they arrived at the scene.

Detectives have launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Police said the man had been sedated and was in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Merseyside.

Detective Inspector Jim Elson said the local man had been in the town centre with his girlfriend at the time.

Officers were speaking to the woman on Saturday.

DI Jim Elson said: “Keirby Walk is a busy thoroughfare and people would have been enjoying the festivities.

“We are appealing for anyone has seen the man walking outside the Keirby Hotel and the moments leading to him being found in the car park to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
