A WOMAN was knocked unconscious by a ‘muscular man’ after a row in a takeaway.

The 25-year-old victim was left with a suspected broken jaw. Tests later revealed she suffered severe bruising but not a broken jaw.

Police said the woman started a conversation with a man inside K2 Fastfood takeaway in St James’s Street at 4am on Sunday.

But his friend intervened and a minor altercation broke out. She went outside and was punched in the left side of the face by the man, knocking her to the floor.

Police said the two parties were not know to each other. Officers say the attack was unprovoked.

She was taken to Burnley General Hospital on Sunday and further tests show not brokjen. She was released after treatment.

Police are examining CCTV footage in a bid to trace the attacker who is white, in his 20s and very muscular. His friend was of similar age.
