SIR – The antics of our city Council these days defy belief. Do any of the city Executive ever read the Telegraph & Argus, particularly the letters page?

Because they seem to behave like the three wise monkeys – deaf, dumb and blind – as far as taking notice of the views of their constituents clearly and frequently expressed here.

It is, of course, quite clear that a number of back-bench councillors do, in fact, read and even contribute to the letters page, but it is also quite apparent that they have no more influence on the actions of the Executive than do we groundlings.

‘Consultation’ means absolutely nothing, decisions having already been made.

The labels of conventional political parties seem totally meaningless to them.
