Rose Queen raises cash for East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust

A PADIHAM girl has helped raise more than £1,000 for Royal Blackburn Hospital.

India Sidhu, who is 10 this week, was inspired to help the Head and Neck Cancer unit after seeing her uncle battle the disease.

She visited the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust this week to present surgeons with a cheque.

India, who has just completed a 12-month period as Rose Queen for St.

Leonard’s Church in Arbory Drive, handed over the cheque for £1,100 to Antonio Belloso and Pradeep Morar, consultant surgeons in ENT.

She said: “I really enjoyed raising money for this great cause and as the Rose Queen I was able to do some exciting things like open local fairs.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped raise this money for a condition that has affected me and my family personally.”

India organised coffee mornings, tombolas and a variety of church related events to raise the money.

Mr Belloso added: “I would like to thank India for all her hard work and this very generous donation. This charitable money will contribute greatly, enhancing the services that we provide to all our head and neck cancer patients in East Lancashire.”
