A GNOME and fairy hunt has been organised at a Victorian hall.

Families have been invited to take part in a hunt for gnomes and fairies at the bottom of Gawthorpe Hall's garden in Padiham.

Gawthorpe Hall is an Elizabethan country house on the banks of the River Calder, in the civil parish of Ightenhill in the borough of Burnley.

A spokesman said: "The Victorians were fascinated by fairies and invented garden gnomes so come and see how many you can find hiding in the grounds.

"This trail is outside in the garden and woods so dress appropriately for the great outdoors."

Admission was £2.50 per child but organisers have said there is no need to book in advance.

It will take place at the Burnley Road hall from 1pm to 4pm on Wednesday, May 30.

People visit the hall, which is open from 12pm, and see some of its other attractions, including Victorian rooms, read story books and colour in Children's Corner and the tearoom serving refreshments will be open.
