The squad from the North West Blood Bikes, which ferries around vital transfusion supplies across Lancashire and the Lake District on a voluntary basis, were among the guests at the afternoon fiesta.

Show categories ranged from the best overall machine to top paint jobs, superlative engineering work, and the leading custom, street-fighter and classic models in attendance, with plenty of fun and games for youngsters also on hand.

The town festival continues this week with free swimming for under-16s at Padiham Leisure Centre from 1pm today, a summer barbecue at Molly Rigby’s on Wednesday night and the Mayor’s Mile Fun Run on Sunday, from 2pm.

Shortly after the festival was over, several bike fans took to the event’s Facebook site to remark on the ‘good turnout’ at The Arbories.
