THE funeral of a man who died after being stabbed in a Burnley park should take place this week.
Mohammed Shafiq's wife and children are hoping to hold a funeral for the 50-year-old at the Ghosia Jamia Mosque, in Every Street, Nelson, on Thursday or Friday.
The father-of-seven died after he was stabbed in the stomach and hit over the head with a blunt instrument in Thompson Park, Burnley.
He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital following the incident on Tuesday afternoon but died later that day.
Final tests and the post mortem examination are due to be completed on Mr Shafiq on Wednesday and the family are hoping the body will be released shortly after.
Police have charged four people aged between 16 and 20 following Mr Shafiq's death, two with murder and two with disorder.
