CHILD support in East Lancashire will be boosted this spring as a number of new children's centres open their doors.
Part of a multi million pound investment by Lancashire County Council, 31 centres will add to the existing 30 already in operation.
Those opening in Hyndburn are at Huncoat Primary School; Great Harwood Primary School; Mount Pleasant Primary School and Copperhouse Children's Centre.
In Pendle, Gisburn Road Primary School will house one of the new facilities while in Burnley, Ightenhill Primary School has been chosen as one of the locations.
In Longridge the civic hall will house Willows Park Children's Centre, and in Rossendale Balladen Primary School and St Bartholomew's CE Primary School will be the sites for the centres.
County Coun Marcus Johnstone, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "Children's centres are a fantastic way to bring together all the services that young families need.
"What's important is that they not only meet immediate needs, they help set up good habits for life by providing early education and health services, along with information on all aspects of bringing up a family.
"It's a chance to really improve lifetime opportunities for future generations and in Lancashire we are giving it our full support."
These centres have been developed following an £11million investment by LCC.
The aim is to provide places where children can go for day care as well as offering family support and health services.
