Good sports raise £1,700 for hospice

HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised for Pendleside Hospice by a sports and social club.

Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Jobcentre Plus Sports and Social Club raised a massive £1,742.91 for the hospice, which provides care for people in Burnley and Pendle.

The money was raised through a variety of events over the last year, including quizzes, raffles, and football cards.

And Paul Targett, who ran the London Marathon, had nominated Pendleside Hospice as their "Charity of the Year".

Andrew Kerin, treasurer of the club, said: "We are delighted to have raised this amount for the hospice.

"The committee are dedicated to fundraising for good causes in the area and we would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who was involved."

Liz Daglish, assistant fund-raiser at the hospice, said: "This is an amazing amount of money raised and donated by the staff of Jobcentre Plus and Brun House.

"We would like to thank the club for their support, throughout the last year."
