BURNLEY FC fullback Graham Alexander narrowly escaped a driving ban after being clocked at 105mph on the M6 in Cumbria.
The Scotland international defender, 36, pleaded guilty to speeding at not less than 101mph, when he appeared at Penrith Magistrates' Court today.
He was fined £500, ordered to pay £150 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
However, despite considering a driving ban because of the speed, magistrates imposed just six penalty points, after hearing of his family commitments.
They heard that Alexander, who lives in Preston with his wife, twin girls and son, regularly takes his children to and from school.
The court was told that they would miss out on sporting activities such as gymnastics and football - his son being a budding young footballer himself - if their father was banned from driving.

Alexander spent eight years at Preston North End before moving to Burnley in a £100,000 deal in August.
He has made 43 league appearances for the club this year.
Alexander began his footballing career at Scunthorpe United, where he also signed as a professional, before moving to Luton Town.
As a responcable citizen and a clarets fan i think it is appaling graham alexandra was let off with 6 points on his licence, you can bet your bottom dollar if you or i was stopped at over 100 mph a driving ban would have swiftly followed whatever excuses or mitigating factors we had,DISGUSTING TWO TIER JUSTICE.

This is pathetic, and nought to do with him playing for Burnley.
What rubbish about the kids. Your telling me he cant afford to pay for busses or even taxis? His wage is a lot more than the average person gets.
Absolute one rule for one crap.

Its a pity he didn't get a ban, then maybe we wouldn't have to watch him at the Turf next season!
Its wierd aint it? I bet there aren't many footballers who can say they have got more points on their livence than they have for their clubs this season! Thats how much he has done for Burnley!
Moron! He is a ptofessional footballer, and kids look up to him. What impression does this give to them?
He ought to be ashamed! Lets face it, what is a £500 fine to him? It must be like the average factory worker getting fined about £30 or £40 for speeding! Well out of order!

It's amazing that he can drive at that speed and get out of a ban because his kids "would miss out on sporting activities such as gymnastics and football". It only gives other motorists caught speeding the perfect excuse to avoid a ban as a precedent has now been set. You should ask him if he wants to contribute anything towards the Wasted Lives campaign - like handing his licence in.
