Pub faces demolition for homes

ANOTHER pub in Burnley could be set to face the wrecking ball after blueprints were unveiled to build nine new homes on the site.
Signature Homes has drawn up proposals which would see the former Gretna Green Hotel, Coal Clough Lane, bulldozed. The plans follow a similar application for the Gordon Lennox pub, in Burnley Road, Cliv-iger, which could be replaced with four townhouses.
Under the Gretna Green scheme, a mixture of one, two and three bedroom properties will be created, along with space for 12 vehicles.
Planning permission has previously been granted for a range of developments at the same location but none have ever come to fruition.
Last week proposals which could see the demise of another of the borough's well-known alehouses were also given the go-ahead.
The Bridge Inn in Manchester Road, Hapton, could be converted into seven apartments.
