BURNLEY MP Kitty Ussher says it is vital residents' views are heard about potential post office closures.

Under plans released in January, Burnley post offices in Parliament Street, Piccadilly Road and Cheapside, Walk Mill, Cliviger and Church Street, Hapton, are to close.

A consultation into the proposals ended on Monday. But Post Office managers refused to accept petitions containing 1,500 names when the Lancashire Telegraph went to hand them to company headquarters in Barnsley.

Post Office bosses had previously said they did not feel petitions "carried much weight".

Mrs Ussher said: "It is vital local residents' views are heard. I believe we have put forward strong reasons to maintain services in Hapton and shown deep concerns in other areas were the Post Office may not have been aware of the full facts."

Is she taking the P**s or what? Labour hasn't listened to the people since they came to power so why should the Post Office care about people?

All we can do is look forwards to the next General Election and see how popular Kitty's party is.

As I`ve said before on this, it`s all down to Europe this closing of post offices. If the Telegraph did a proper job, they would print the real story and stop building peoples hopes up of the government changing their minds, when there isn`t a lot they can do, apart from go against their European masters.
