A HASLINGDEN business supplies firm has appointed a new managing director.

Christy Barker will take over as boss of Dennons, at Offecon House in Bury Road, following the retirement of her father, Ray Cooper.

Mrs Barker, the grand-daughter of one of Dennons’ original founders, Alan Cooper, has worked for the company since 2001.

For the last eight years she has worked as commercial director.

Dennons will celebrate 50 years in business next year and is currently undergoing an expansion which will see investment in advanced back-office systems, more staff and a move to new premises.

Mrs Barker said: “I’m looking forward to the new challenge of taking Dennons forward into our next half-century. I have ambitious plans for growth and I am building a team to help me achieve our goals.”

The firm has also announced it will sponsor the best micro-business category at this year’s Rossendale Business Awards.
