A GRANDMOTHER was 'Lovin' It' when she tucked into her first ever Big Mac after she was chosen to become a 'quality scout' for the fast-food giant.

Christine Puckett-Gouldin went on a tour of McDonalds’ suppliers with ex-British and Irish Lion Phil Vickery.

And the 62-year-old admitted she was pleasantly surprised by the burger after her initial scepticism. The former parish councillor was impressed at the level of quality control and transparency in the process.

She said: “I was a true sceptic beforehand. I had never eaten a McDonald’s burger and was always wary of the claim that they were 100 per cent beef. But the farms were wonderful. They take the ingredients from the best quality sources, which I didn’t suppose a multi-national firm would do.

“Now I’ve watched them be made, from the lettuce picked in the fields to the bakery where the make the buns, I would visit without hesitation.

“We asked questions of staff and interrogated them — we put them through the wringer. Everything is completely traceable. I had my first burger at the processing plant and enjoyed it.”

Christine, from Hapton, was one of 15 people selected from 1,700 members of the public who applied to be a quality scout.

Vickery, a rugby union World Cup winner in 2003 and Celebrity Masterchef champion in 2011, said: “As the son of a dairy farmer I’ve always been very aware of where the food I eat has come from.”
