VILLAGERS flew their kites with pride to celebrate Hapton's heritage.
The first kite festival was held at the village’s recreation ground yesterday and dozens of competitors showed off their designs.
The event was organised by parish councillor Joan Lakeland, who said inspiration had come when the village was awarded more than £7,000 of Heritage Lottery funding.
She said: “Because Hapton is renowned for being high up and it is always windy, we wanted to hold a kite festival as part of the Heritage Lottery project.”
