A MAN was left with a broken cheekbone and other injuries in an unprovoked attack in Hapton.

The 33-year-old man was walking along Manchester Road near to The Railway pub when he was approached from behind and punched in the face.

After he fell to the floor he was repeatedly punched and kicked in the head and the body.

Police believed possibly two or three men were involved.

He suffered a broken cheekbone and numerous cuts and bruises.

The men are described as being white, aged 16-19 years old, one was wearing a blue jumper and the other were in dark clothing.

PC Amy Tattersall said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack and we need to find the people responsible.

“I believe there were several people standing outside The Railway pub and I would urge these people to come forward if they saw anything.

“If anybody has any information at all about this assault please contact police.”

The incident happened at around 9.45pm on Saturday, April 6, but police have just released details.
