Revised plan for restaurant in Cliviger

A NEW planning application to turn a landmark pub into an Italian restaurant, lounge and bar has been submitted to Burnley Council.

Plans were unveiled in June to transform the former Fighting Cocks pub, in Red Lees Road, Cliviger.

The pub was bought from Enterprise Inns by Ignazio Pillitteri, who owns Nino’s in Bacup Road, Rawtenstall.

It was hoped to open the restaurant, expected to be called Nino’s Cliviger, at the end of October, but a second application has been submitted after council planners expressed concerns at the design of the front facade in the first.

A spokesman for the design agents said: “The proposal provides a viable use of this period building.”

Bosses said at least 40 new jobs would be created if the plans are given the green light.

Looks more like they've run out of money already, given the lack of work that's going on there...
