Mystery buyer for closed Cliviger pub

RUMOURS are rife that a former landmark pub is to be turned into an Italian eatery.

Enterprise Inns, which owns the former Fighting Cocks, Cliviger, confirmed a sale was going through, but would not disclose the identity of the buyer.

The former coaching house, built in 1901, had been listed for sale at £500,000, and then at auction with a guide price of more than £300,000.

Carlo Lionti, who owns Carlo’s Ristorante, in Colne said: “I have heard rumours it could be turned into an Italian restaurant, but it could be anybody.”

Most recently the building housed the Ridoy Indian restaurant and bar, but it has been empty since February last year when the tenants left unexpectedly.
