A SERIES of road closures caused chaos for commuters in East Lancashire this morning.
A crash on the southbound A56 between the M65 at junction eight and Rising Bridge caused the carriageway to be closed at 6am.
By the time it re-opened at 7.50am there were long queues.
Motorists reported queues stretching back towards Accrington town centre through Baxenden and also problems on the M65.
Also closed were the Grane Road between Blackburn and Haslingden and nearby Jackson Heights Road due to snow and ice.
In Cliviger Burnley Road near the Ram pub was closed at 7am after a crash.
