A LARGE amount of fly tipping has been dumped on a car park.

Wooden doors, pieces of timber and plastic as well as fabric had been left at The Long Causeway car park, near Cliviger.

The rubbish overlooks the Coal Clough Wind Farm.

Cllr Andrew Newhouse, who represents the area on Burnley Council, said fly tipping is happening up there almost on a weekly basis.

He said: "It's happening up there a lot and it is getting worse.

"But what do you do? How do we police this? Do we have to put up CCTV cameras to name and shame?

"Or do people just need educating and be told it could all be put in the tip, or a small fee could be paid for it to be taken away by the council properly.

"It could be businesses who are charging people to take their waste away and then dumping it illegally.

"Something needs to be done, it angers a lot of people."

A spokesman on behalf of United Utilities, who own the site, said: "A thorough investigation is underway to find out how the rubbish was dumped there."
