A RESCUE operation for a community centre has come up trumps in Burnley Wood.

People using the Dall Street Community Centre, between Dall Street and Glebe Road, feared it would be closed under Elevate regeneration works locally.

But with the help of local councillors and Burnley Wood Action Group, volunteers have now secured the centre's short-term future by proving the site's popularity.

Battling youngster Bradley Dean, aged eight, from Marlborough Street, who has been fighting a rare form of cancer, was guest of honour at the celebration.
