STEAMPUNK enthusiasts descended on Briercliffe’s Queen Street Mill at the weekend.

Following the success of last year’s steampunk event, the Burnley mill hosted a two-day event, with market stalls, family entertainment, and the museum’s own steam engine ‘Peace’ running throughout.

Queen Street Mill houses the world’s only surviving steam-powered weaving shed and, at its peak, would have had up to 1,138 working looms.

Vanessa Bedford, Lancashire County Council’s museum manager at the mill, said: “Steampunk embraces fashion, culture, architectural style, and art from an alternative history of the Victorian era.

“At the market you could find some truly unique objects, whether you are a fan of the genre, or just curious.”
