STEAMPUNK enthusiasts will descend on Briercliffe’s Queen’s Street Mill this weekend.

Followers of the sci-fi subculture, who have a keen interest in the aesthetics of the Victorian era, will gather to enjoy live music and art at the event on June 1. Stalls will also be present from noon to 5pm.

Vanessa Bedford, Lancashire County Council’s museum manager at the mill, said: “Queen Street is an ideal venue for a steampunk event as it houses the world’s only surviving steam-powered weaving shed.

“At its peak the mill would have had up to 1,138 working looms in the weaving shed.”
